Susannah of Feast + West and I met via Twitter over a year ago and I’m so glad we did! We hit it off right away and we have collaborated on a variety of projects including a summer picnic, the Bright Blog Bash and the #OscarNomsParty. Susannah is the queen of cocktails, so I had her mix up a tasty birthday beverage.
What is Feast + West all about and how long have you been blogging?
I started Feast + West just over a year ago as a place to write about my three favorite things: design, food and travel. I love to share recipes for food and cocktails, city guides and my favorite finds.
What is your favorite Twin Stripe post?
Last summer, Katie wrote a two-part series on planting an herb garden. She suggested a few different combinations of herbs for themes like cocktails, Italian cooking and classic culinary herbs. So smart!
What is a little known fact about Feast + West?
My original idea was to start a magazine, but I decided to start a blog instead! I’m so glad I did — I might not have met Katie!
Why did you decide to create a Cake Batter Martini for Twin Stripe’s birthday?
I had a few ideas for this cocktail, but ultimately decided on a cake batter-flavored martini. Because Katie is gluten-free, I’d hate for her to miss out on any birthday cake, so I figured she better celebrate by drink some instead!
What advice do you have to share with Katie and other bloggers?
Enjoy it. It’s easy to get caught up in stats and to-do lists, but it’s just as easy to forget to have fun. Create posts that you really enjoy because you want to, not because you feel like you should. Your enthusiasm will shine through.
