January is one of those months where it’s just a little hard for me to get going. There’s the initial excitement of the new year and new goals, but when it’s cold outside or just plain dreary like it was in Philadelphia today, it can be difficult to feel inspired. Here are some links that are helping me to get back in my groove.
Design*Sponge: Home Office Organizing Tools - Cleaning up and reorganizing your space is a great pick me up. Once everything is organized and out of your way, you can get back to coming up with great ideas!
PMA: Dancing Around the Bride - Getting out and seeing art always gives me inspiration. Last weekend I went to the Philadelphia Museum of Art and saw an exhibition that appealed to almost all of the senses. Dancing around the Bride, including works by Cage, Cunningham, Johns, Rauschenberg, and Duchamp, featured pieces that included live dance and music.
Slow Cooker Chicken Tikka Masala - This might seem like a weird one, but I find a home cooked meal to be pretty inspiring. Cooking a meal helps me to relax and take me out of day-to-day stress and frustration. This recipe is low input and high reward because a crock pot does most of the work for you.

I find the short winter days uninspiring. Some days I leave the house before it is fully light out and get home in the dark. That can be hard to handle day after day. Here are a few links that help me beat the winter blues.
The Creative Habit - This book by famous choreographer, Twyla Tharp, is a great exercise in renewing your creativity. I read it a few years ago and am looking forward to rereading it this winter.
Yoga Journal - I used to practice yoga twice a week when I lived in Chicago. When I started grad school, I practiced less and less until I stopped all together. Friend got me a subscription to Yoga Journal for Christmas and it has inspired me to start attending class regularly again. Yoga has such a calming and revitalizing effect on me, that picking it back up will be just what I need.
What do you do when you’re feeling a little uninspired?
