I read the Hunger Games series this summer before I started graduate school. It was a good thing too, because once I started them, I couldn’t put them down. I’m sure those who’ve read The Hunger Games, Catching Fire and Mocking Jay can relate. I had mixed emotions when I found out they’d be making a movie. Much like other YA literature enthusiasts, I was worried about who would play my beloved characters and if Hollywood would be able to get it right (they usually can’t). The wait is now over because the movie was released at midnight last night! Because we’re in Chicago having a fabulous time, I won’t be seeing the movie until Sunday – but don’t worry, I’ve already purchased my advanced seating IMAX tickets.
One of the really cool things about the film is that it was filmed in one of my favorite places, Asheville, NC. As a matter of fact, one of my classmates, Todd, was an extra in the film and can be seen in the trailer! I’m looking forward to seeing if he made the actual movie.
So until I can get to the IMAX theater, I’ll be preparing by scanning my book, listening to the AMAZING soundtrack and admiring my shimmery nails – painted “Hook and Line” from China Glaze’s Colors from the Capitol collection. What are you doing to prepare for The Hunger Games? How many people will be seeing it opening weekend?
Until Monday, may the odds ever be in your favor.
