Earlier this week, Jess of Twenty Six and Not Counting asked if I would be her blog wife. After she got personal by answering questions from this New York Times essay, ‘To Fall in Love with Anyone, Do This’, I had to say ‘yes!’ and participate in the challenge that Hallie of Corals and Cognacs first began.

The New York Times essay shares the secret to falling in love with anyone – just answer a series of 36 questions truthfully with your partner and a sense of intimacy will be created and accelerated. I decided to accept Hallie’s challenge and answered a handful of the 36 questions. I want you all to get to know me better and this seems a great way to do that. Let’s see if we can fall in love.
Given the choice of anyone in the world, whom would you want as a dinner guest?
I’m a huge fan of Mindy Kaling. She is smart, funny, beautiful and would be the most fun dinner guest. I’d totally serve burgers, fries and margaritas!
Would you like to be famous? In what way?
I don’t want to be a household name, but I would love for Twin Stripe to grow and have an even larger readership.
Before making a telephone call, do you ever rehearse what you are going to say? Why?
I don’t rehearse, but depending on the type of call I have to make, I will think through what needs to be said.
What would constitute a “perfect” day for you?
A day spent with loved ones makes for a “perfect” day. We don’t need to do anything fancy – just have good conversation and tasty food and drink.
When did you last sing to yourself? To someone else?
I sing to my dog all of the time and I’m pretty sure he loves it!
For what in your life do you feel most grateful?
I have so many things to be grateful for, but I’m most grateful for my loving and supportive family. They are always there for me through thick and thin – supporting my decisions, cheering me on and catching me when I fall.
If you could wake up tomorrow having gained any one quality or ability, what would it be?
I would love to be able to teleport anywhere in the world, like Harry Potter. I would teleport to the beaches of Hawaii on weekends, enjoy workday lunches at Paris cafes and grab a sushi dinner in Tokyo.
If a crystal ball could tell you the truth about yourself, your life, the future or anything else, what would you want to know?
I would not want to know about my future specifically, but I would want to know what I could do to help improve the future for those coming after me.
Is there something that you’ve dreamed of doing for a long time? Why haven’t you done it?
I would love to own my own business, even if it is just small. I’m making moves to get there sometime soon. I’ll keep you all in the know!
What is the greatest accomplishment of your life?
Receiving my graduate degree was a proud moment for me. I worked really hard in graduate school, so walking across the stage was a wonderful moment.
What do you value most in a friendship?
Trust and understanding are so important in any relationship.
What is your most treasured memory?
I love looking at Chad and my wedding album. It was a beautiful day filled with so much love, family and friends.
If you knew that in one year you would die suddenly, would you change anything about the way you are now living? Why?
If I knew I only had a year to live, I would quit my job in order to spend more time with family and friends and complete my travel bucket list.
How close and warm is your family? Do you feel your childhood was happier than most other people’s?
As I mentioned before, my family is loving and supportive. I don’t know if my childhood was any happier than anyone else’s, but I know I had a wonderful childhood filled with happy memories.
How do you feel about your relationship with your mother?
My mom and I have a great relationship that has only strengthen as I have gotten older. I make sure I talk to her at least one a week, but often times I talk to her more often than that.
Your house, containing everything you own, catches fire. After saving your loved ones and pets, you have time to safely make a final dash to save any one item. What would it be? Why?
I would want to take photos – I have a lot on my laptop, so I am inclined to grab that, but I also would want to grab my wedding album.
And so I ask you, are we in love? I would love to hear some of your answers to the 36 questions, so answer a question or two in the comments or tweet me your answer(s). Happy Friday!
