Donut Holes with Sweet Strawberry Dipping Sauce

Donut Holes with Sweet Strawberry Dipping Sauce // Cate of Chez Catey Lou's Baby Shower // Twin Stripe

What could be more fun than getting together with your friends and celebrating a mom-to-be? How about enjoying donuts and celebrating a mom-to-be, which is exactly what we are doing today! My friend Cate of Chez CateyLou is expecting a sweet baby girl at the end of March and a group of her blog friends got together to bring her a dount potluck – one of her favorite foods!

I’m not going to lie, I’ve never made a donut and I wasn’t brave enough to try, so instead I picked up some donut holes at Dunkin Donuts and created a sweet strawberry dipping sauce to enjoy. I made festive washi tape flags to adorn the dipping skewers.

Ingredients

  • 1 pint strawberries, washed and hulled
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1 tsp lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Place all ingredients into a medium size pot over medium head.
  2. Let them cook 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  3. When most of the strawberries have fallen apart, remove the sauce from heat and pour through a fine mesh strainer into a bowl.
  4. When your sauce has strained, serve it immediately or place it in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Enjoy!

  2. This sounds so good! I wish I had some to snack on right now. This is perfect for a shower, especially if you are needing to make several desserts and appetizers. It’s an easy way to dress up donut holes!

  3. Katie, what a fun way to serve donuts! I absolutely love taking something store bought and elevating it to a new level. And your presentation is gorgeous, as always! Thank you so much for my awesome shower. You are the sweetest, and I’m so glad we got to virtually celebrate together! Hopefully one of these days we will get to celebrate together in person! xoxo

  4. I love the honesty – I’ve never attempted a donut before either and am way too terrified to! Storebought donut holes are the best, improved only by your homemade strawberry dipping sauce.

What do you think? Katie loves to hear from you!
