Father’s Day Drink: Arnold Palmer

arnold palmerMy Dad loves golf. I mean, really loves golf. And lucky for him, he’ll get to spend this Father’s Day weekend doing what he loves most, playing and watching golf! The US Open, which is just around the corner from me in Ardmore, PA, started on Monday and continues through the weekend. This Sunday I’ll be toasting to him from afar with a spiked Arnold Palmer.

The Arnold Palmer drink—a combination of iced tea and lemonade, is named after the legendary golfer. It was actually at the 1960 US Open in Denver where a woman over heard him order the drink and ordered “one of those Palmer drinks” as well. Many people spike the refreshing combo with vodka or bourbon. There are several pretty fancy versions out there too.

dadThis is the closest I’ll ever get to being a multi-tournament champion like my Dad. Happy Father’s Day Dad!
