Holiday Home Tour 2015 // Twin Stripe

Christmas is one of my favorite times of the year, so it should come as no surprise that I love decorating my home for the holiday. Each year Chad and I purchase a fresh North Carolina Fraser fur and get decorating. This year we chose to decorate our space with a lot of metallics, a few pops of color plus some fun and whimsical pieces. Enjoy our holiday home tour!

As soon as I saw the multicolored bottle brush trees at Target, I knew I had to have them. They look perfect on the mantle with some greenery, metallic pine cones and candles tucked around them.

The copper stag hanging over the mirror is another one of my favorite decorations this winter. I hung a mini disco ball on his antler for some extra sparkle. The stag coupled with Merry & Bright garland and the bottle brush trees pull the whimsical decorations together.

This colorful woven basket, which sits on the hearth, doubles as a fun decoration and source of light. I placed a variety of silver and gold ornaments and pinecones in the basket with strands of LED lights.

To make your own metallic pinecones, all you need is a bag of pinecones and your favorite metallic spray paint. Gold and silver really pop on the dark pinecones.

Of course I had to dress my Society Social bar cart up for the holiday season. I hung our merry and bright advent calendar and my Oh Joy! FA LA LA banner on the wall behind the cart.

A small cake stand holds a mercury glass candle and some more metallic ornaments. (I put them everywhere!) Using a cake stand is a great way to add height and dress up a space. I wanted to make sure we were party ready, so the cart is stocked all of our favorite drinks, festive glassware and napkins. Cheers!

Our love Christmas tree this year. It has such a fun vibe with the colored lights and sparkly garland. Chad and I love decorating the tree with a combination of ornaments from our childhoods and new ornaments we have received as a couple. To mix it up a bit, I also placed green, red and white orchards on the tree. I placed them in flower tubes and attached them with fishing line. It’s another whimsical touch.

After all of that decorating, Hobbes is sure worn out! When we are ready to relax with a cocktail, I light my beautiful Wickbox candle and bask in the lights of the tree.

    1. Alissa – such sweet words! Thanks so much! I love decorating, but sometimes I worry that is just comes out as too much. 🙂

What do you think? Katie loves to hear from you!
