Home Tour: Back Patio + Father’s Day BBQ

Home Tour: Back Patio // Twin Stripe

Welcome back to our 1950s bungalow located in the Lindley Park neighborhood of Greensboro, NC! Last week I shared the front of our home with you and I thought we should move right into the backyard and patio, today, where we happen spend a lot of time. As a bonus, because Father’s Day is this Sunday, we grilled a delicious dinner Dad is sure to love.

Because we spend a lot of time in our back yard, Chad and I wanted to create a relaxed and inviting outdoor living space. We still have the same patio furniture from when we moved in, but we’ve switched out the cushions and rug for an updated feel. The addition of throw pillows, plants and a side table help to make the area more comfortable.

An inexpensive way to dress up a patio is to plant ground cover like sedum that is easy to grow and comes in a variety of colors. I purchased mine at Lowe’s and planted it in a terra cotta pot.

What makes our back patio a true living space is the addition of our barbecue grill, which we use all of the time, and our versatile potting table. If you don’t have a potting table, I highly recommend one. In the spring, when I am first putting my containers together, I keep all of my supplies in one spot. At this point, I keep a few garden tools on the bottom, but now I can use the top for entertaining. It makes a great bar and buffet.

I must also note the amazing paper party decorations I picked up from Ikea last week. They are high quality and some are even available for order online, making it easy to celebrate any occasion!
