Instagram Photo Board DIY

When Alison moved to Philadelphia, I wanted to create something special for her, similar to the inspiration string she made. Some of my favorite images from our time together are housed on Instagram. I had recently stumbled across Kanvess, a company that prints your Instagrams, and thought this was the perfect way to test out the service. I quickly ordered 20 prints from the site. In a matter of days, a little orange envelope filled with perfect 3″ x 3″ Instagrams arrived in my mailbox.

Now I had to figure out what I was going to do with all of the prints I ordered. Since I had multiple photos for Alison, I wanted to give her the flexibility to change out out the images. And so the Instagram photo board was born.

Materials

  • Instagram photos from Kanvess
  • 12″ x 4″ Birch plywood (found at Michaels)
  • 2 colors of spray paint
  • Painters tape (or washi tape)
  • Mini clothes pins
  • Glue gun/superglue
  • Glitter (optional)
To create a photo board with a stripe, first spray a stripe of pink paint at the top of the board. Once the stripe is dry, cover it with tape. Next, spray the entire front of the board gold. (I found I needed 2-3 coats of the metallic paint.) Next spray paint the mini clothes pins and sprinkle glitter on them. (I secured the pins to cardstock, like Ez of Create Comforts did in this post.) Once everything is dry, glue the pins on to the board, making sure you leave enough space for each Instagram photo. Wait for the pins to dry and then hang your favorite Instagrams on the board.

I drilled a hole at the top of my board and hung it on the wall, but it works just as well to prop it up. Now you have a great way to display your favorite memories! Want more Instagram inspiration? Check out Melanie Blogget’s 13 Clever Things to do With Your Instagrams.
