Today I’m excited to welcome Madeline of Style Me Thrifty to the blog while I’m in the Dominican Republic. I met Madeline at #SBSCon over the summer and we have since become great Twitter friends! I love her sense of style so I invited her here to share with all of you. Enjoy!

There’s a lot of fashion advice floating around on the Internet. If you need an outfit for date night or a black-tie wedding, the answer lies in a blog post or Pin. But what about say, an ordinary Saturday? A day that has running errands, grocery shopping, and coffee on the agenda. What do you wear on those days? We need casual outfit inspiration, too, Internet!
I often find that weekend days are when the style motivation goes out the window because um hello, hoodie and yoga pants, you look comfortable today. BUT c’mon, we can do better than stretchy pants, ladies! We just need a little casual outfit inspiration — and bonus points if it’s budget-friendly advice because I’m pretty sure people at the grocery store don’t care about designer labels.
Allow me to break down how to look good on the weekend in 3 easy steps:
Step 1: Assemble an outfit. This requires thinking beyond the top + pants formula. Add in a skinny belt or pretty bauble. Layer a vest, like I did here (I also love puffer vests this winter). Slip into some cool flat boots instead of sneakers. The extra details you add in really make the outfit and pull it all together.
Step 2: Add a pop of personality. Colors, textures, patterns, shine, etc. A little pop of personality will put a pep in your step. I received these plaid TOMS from my brother-in-law for Christmas. I love the hint of cheer they add to my outfit.
Step 3: Wear lipstick. Because… well, why not? You finally found the perfect shade for that wedding you’re attending, so why aren’t you wearing it to Target, too?! Life is short, wear lipstick.
I’ve always maintained that if you look good, you feel good. So cheers to both a productive and fashionable weekend!
